Life in Kindergarten - Brennemann
Each day all students work on homework for one hour during after school. Our kindergarten students always work hard and come prepared. Our amazing student helper, Alana, has been assisting in the K class for two years. The students love her and she is a leader and role model in every sense of the word. She makes us proud every day. Thanks Alana for all your hard work!

Goodbye Ms. Katie - Brennemann
Friday was Ms. Katie's last day working with the Kindergarten and First Grade class at Brennemann. She is moving over to Stewart School to direct our new program which starts on Tuesday, November 13. Ms. Katie handed out awards to each and every one of our outstanding students. Each child also recieved a framed picture taken with Ms. Katie. A great mom even suprised us with pizza to celebrate. Ms. Katie will be missed at Brennemann!
"Play Poetry" - Brennemann
This week we began looking at the children's poetry of e.e. cummings. After a brief discussion about the poet and his dislike of capital letters, correct grammar and punctuation, we set out to stage or "play" one of his poems.
maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach (to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and
milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles: and
may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea
by e. e. cummings
A Happy Halloween - Brennemann
Abbott Labs in Waukegan, IL donated a box of NutriPals, a new healthy snack bar for children, as part of their campaign to offer healthy alternatives for Halloween. Our students really enjoyed the bars and the activity sheets that came with them. Thanks, Abbott!
